Lemon Smoothie Recipe

Makes 1 or 2 smoothies - Total: 46 carbs, 541 calories or

23 carbs and 270 calories in half the recipe

INGREDIENTS

1 cup frozen avocado (16 carbs)(4 grams protein)
6 ounces plain yogurt ( 7 carbs)(18 grams protein)
1tsp vanilla extract  (0.5 carbs)(0 protein)
1/4 tsp turmeric. (0.3 carbs ) (0 protein)
1 Tablespoon of honey (17 carbs/1 tablespoon)(0 protein)
Juice of 1 lemon or 2 fluid ounces (4.2 carbs )(0.2 protein)
Zest  of one lemon. (0 carbs)(0 protein)
1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (1 carb)(1gram protein)

DIRECTIONS

Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend to the consistency you prefer. If you like it thinner add more milk, if you want it thicker add more avocado. Although avocados add some fiber and make the smoothie creamy,you may add chia or flax seeds for fiber.

Tip:

You may want to experiment with the amount of Honey and lemon juice. The lemon has a tart flavor and needs a sweetener such as maple syrup or honey. 2 tablespoons of honey has 34 carbs so be careful on the amounts of sweeteners you add.You may add a high protein greek yogurt to increase the protein content.Turmeric adds a beautiful color without adding flavor to the smoothie.
